Seattle Train Update
I just saw on the news -- they're having problems with the trains. And after all that practice, too! Aren't we all surprised?

Torchwood?
Today the universe tried really hard to make me miss tonight's Torchwood. (Bad universe! Very naughty!)
I ran home to watch the 6pm broadcast (like I did last night) but discovered that my cable was out. Well, not all of my cable. Just the channels above 100. BBC America is 162. So, no Torchwood.
I went to the grocery store and came home with plans to eat dinner, then watch the 9pm broadcast.
Then my aunt called to make plans for us to meet so she could give me her tickets to tomorrow's Seattle Storm game. I ran out to meet her a little after 8:30, and got home at 8:55 -- just in time.
Foiled again, universe!
(And if my cable goes out again, I'm going to cry.)

Torchwood!!!
Episode one aired tonight. It was awesome!!! Can you tell I'm excited? Whee!!!!
The next episode will air tomorrow, but that seems so far away! I guess I shouldn't complain -- at least I don't have to wait a week for the next installment.
Did I mention it was awesome? It was awesome.
Amongst all the drama and action, there was still some sweetness and some humor. One of the funniest bits came from (of all people) Gwen:
[Gwen's driving from Wales to England, while on the phone with her husband, Rhys.]
Gwen: Oh my God, Severn Bridge. I'm going into England. Farewell forever.
Rhys: Good luck. Have you got currency?
Gwen: Yes, and I've had my injections.
I've watched a lot of British TV, and I'm used to English people making fun of the Welsh. It was nice to see the Welsh giving back a little bit. Hee!

Exit Wounds
The second season finale of Torchwood was sad, but it still wasn't as sad as the second season finale of Doctor Who.
They did manage to kill off a rather large percentage of their leads, though. Season three should be interesting....

Jack announces a Hubby meeting, inviting [Gwen's fiance] Rhys along. I am so loving this. I love whenever shows like this finally allow clueless secondary characters to be in on what’s been going on, like Buffy and her mother, and Sydney on Alias and her stupid friends.
Maybe because it gives me hope something extraordinary like this will happen to me. Like one day the twentysomething chick whose cubicle is next to mine will confide that all those secretive phone calls are about how she’s part of a shadowy group who catch vampires, keeping the hot-looking ones around for sex, and I can join in if I like. And I’ll say, “Yes!” And then report her to HR for being stoned at work again so they fire her and I finally get her spot by the window.

New Show Reviews
It's time for my 2nd Annual New Show Reviews!
This year I tried out Journeyman, Pushing Daisies, Gossip Girl, Bionic Woman, and Moonlight. I'll also discuss Torchwood, which recently premiered here in North America.
Journeyman
I wasn't sure about this one; I had read an unfavorable review. But I liked it! It has an interesting idea, likable characters, and good stories. The trips to the past are fun, too. My favorite moment showed the main character, Dan, in the 1980's. Dan had jumped back wearing his bluetooth, and as he's standing on a street corner he makes eye contact with a man using one of those big boxy cell phones.
Pushing Daisies
My other favorite new show! It's incredibly hard to describe, but highly enjoyable.
Gossip Girl
This was created by the guy who created The O.C., so I was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as fun as The O.C.. I got bored pretty quickly.
Bionic Woman
The first few minutes of the pilot episode were amazing. Unfortunately, the characters that were featured in those minutes are not the main characters. The main plots and characters are OK, but not that interesting. I haven't decided if should keep watching for the peripheral characters (who get just a few minutes of airtime each episode) or drop it completely.
Moonlight
There's been a lot of other vampire detective shows over the years (Forever Knight, Angel...) but I've enjoyed them so I thought I'd give this one a try. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as good as those others. Ironically, there's another vampire show on the same night (Blood Ties) that's better quality and much more fun.

It's finally here! The Doctor Who spin-off that I've been waiting for has finally started airing in North America. I've only seen two episodes (I have to watch it on the Canadian station since I don't get BBC-America) but it's been fun so far. I'm actually rather relieved. After waiting for so long (and having such high expectations), I was afraid I might be disappointed. I wasn't. :)

I Love CBC!!
Not only are they begin showing third series of the new Doctor Who before the SciFi Channel, but they're also going to air Torchwood, the Doctor Who spin-off that I desperately want to see but SciFi passed on. (BBC-America picked it up, but since I don't get that channel, it doesn't do me a lot of good!)
