Eek!

I hate spending money. I really, really do. Especially a lot of money. (A lot, by the way, is more than $50.)

But when my iPod finally died, I had to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Eek!! So expensive! Oh well.

The new one's in color, which is good, right? Sigh.

Hot 10(0)

Last year, AfterEllen.com compiled its own Hot 100 list. (It was substantially different than the list made by the straight boys at Maxim.) This year's list will come out on June 2nd, but voting closed a few days ago.

Here's who I voted for:

Katherine Heigl
Kate Moennig
Gina Torres
Claudia Black
Katee Sackoff
Grace Park
Eliza Dushku
Angelina Jolie
Lucy Lawless
Sara Ramirez

Of course, that's not really my Top 10 list. My Top 10 list looks like this:

Katherine Heigl
Jensen Ackles
Kate Moennig
Ben Browder
Gina Torres
Benjamin McKenzie
Claudia Black
David Tennant
Katee Sackoff
Gareth David-Lloyd

Quote of the Week

Oh, Ellen. You rock so very much.

The best bit: "We are all the same people, all of us. You're no different than I am. Our love is the same. When someone says, 'You can have a contract, and you'll still have insurance, and you'll get all that', it sounds to me like [they're] saying, 'Well, you can sit there, you just can't sit there.'"

Baking

Since I've started baking regularly, I've had many people compliment my baked goods. The best compliment I've ever received, however, is that my mom likes my baking.

To me, my mom is the best cook and the best baker in the world. The fact that she likes what I make blows my mind.

p.s. I'm glad you liked the pie, mom!

Quote of the Week

I've just started reading a book by Michael Kurland called "Pluribus". So far I like it, and I especially liked this bit:

[a pompous witness is testifying at a trial]

witness: We are a God-fearing people --

judge: I'm allowing you to speak because you claim to have something to say that is relevant to the issue at trial. The fact that you have some reason to fear the Deity is beyond the scope of this court, and whom you profess to speak for beyond yourself is a bit vague to the court. Is that the regal "we", the editorial "we", or do you have a tapeworm?

Squeeee!!!!!!

On tonight's Dancing with the Stars, there was much awesomeness. First, Apolo & Julianne's quickstep and Mel & Maks' paso doble were picked as two of the best DWTS dances ever. Awesome! I loved them both.

Then Apolo & Julianne and Mel & Maks came back and danced new dances. Awesome! Unfortunately, this was slightly marred by the fact that they were dancing to a band (Rascal Flatts) that I hate. But still -- awesome!

And then, my two favorites from this season -- Marissa and Kristi -- were both safe! AWESOME! I thought for sure that Marissa was going to be eliminated, so I literally gasped when her name was called.

Vancouver = ???

I watch/have watched a lot of shows that are/were shot in Vancouver, B.C. It's interesting to me what place the actual show is set in.

Dark Angel and Highlander were set in Seattle.

In Supernatural and The X-Files, Vancouver had to stand in for a variety of locations all over the country (and occasionally other parts of the world).

Shows like Stargate and Battlestar Galactica are set (mostly) in space, so British Columbia has to stand in for a variety of alien planets.

All those are pretty normal. But then there's the weird ones....

The L Word is set in L.A. L.A.! As in, the town where most TV shows are filmed. Why do they shoot in Canada??

And weirdest of all -- because their topographies could not be more different -- is Smallville, which is set in Kansas. You know, that flat state with lots of cornfields. But when you watch the show, you see lots of mountains and river gorges. Hmmmm.....

Quote of the Week

I know I shouldn't, but I really do enjoy Hell's Kitchen. Over on TWoP, Montykins writes the weecaps:

"Matt, 35, is a sous chef who describes himself as a 'culinarian'. I have my doubts about that word, but it does appear 38,300 times in Google, including a place to become a 'certified culnarian'. In the space of thirty seconds, I have gone from being skeptical about whether there's such a thing to wondering if Matt is certified."

Ah, Google. What did we do without you?
