Vancouver = ???
I watch/have watched a lot of shows that are/were shot in Vancouver, B.C. It's interesting to me what place the actual show is set in.
Dark Angel and Highlander were set in Seattle.
In Supernatural and The X-Files, Vancouver had to stand in for a variety of locations all over the country (and occasionally other parts of the world).
Shows like Stargate and Battlestar Galactica are set (mostly) in space, so British Columbia has to stand in for a variety of alien planets.
All those are pretty normal. But then there's the weird ones....
The L Word is set in L.A. L.A.! As in, the town where most TV shows are filmed. Why do they shoot in Canada??
And weirdest of all -- because their topographies could not be more different -- is Smallville, which is set in Kansas. You know, that flat state with lots of cornfields. But when you watch the show, you see lots of mountains and river gorges. Hmmmm.....
