Breaking News!
My best friend had her second baby! Mother and daughter are doing fine. (Tired, but fine.)
In Storm land, the rumor is that WNBA legend Tina Thompson will be signing with the Storm. Not really sure how I feel about this. She didn't play well last season. But maybe coming off the bench (which I'm assuming she will do, just like Katie Smith did/will do) will help her make the most of her playing time. I am a little amused by this, though: If Thompson joins the Storm, then they will have four -- count them! -- FOUR #1 draft picks on the team: Thompson (1997), Ann Wauters (2000), Lauren Jackson (2001), and Sue Bird (2002). That's insane! Also insane? Tina Thompson, Katie Smith, and Lauren Jackson are #1, #3, and #4 on the all-time WNBA scoring list.

Quote(s) of the Day: Tweets About Husbands
Rebecca Lobo and my friend Anne had funny tweets today. The only thing they had in common was that they were about their husbands...
Rebecca Lobo: "Note to husband: If the whole house smells like feces than yes, one of our children needs his/her diaper changed."
Anne: "Husband struck dumb with joy when I suggested a 2am meal in China Town. I think I saw tears."

Time Difference = Baby Difference
Hawaii is (currently) three hours ahead of Washington. The Baby (or "Squirmy Wormy", as I like to call her) gets up about two hours before I usually do, and goes to bed early enough that I get to bed about two and half hours earlier than I usually do.
I didn't even notice the time difference. Yay for no jet lag!!!

Quote of the Day: Red Dwarf
My friend, uhh.... let's call her "Curly", comes over once a week to hang out and watch TV.
I've introduced Curly to a lot of television shows: Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Burn Notice, Dead Like Me, True Blood, and maybe another one that I've forgotten.
When Doctor Who or Supernatural are airing new eps, we watch those. Right now, however, there's nothing on. So, tonight we watched an old episode of Doctor Who ("School Reunion" -- the one with Sarah Jane!) and then I introduced her to Red Dwarf.
Ah, Red Dwarf. I've missed you. ("It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere, I'm all alone, more or less!")
So...
From "Future Echoes" (episode 1.2):
[Lister and Cat are preparing to enter statis. Cat shows up with a rack of clothes.]
LISTER: [Laughing.] What are you doing?
CAT: I'm doing what you said do.
LISTER: I said, "Take a few essential basics you couldn't bear to leave behind."
CAT: Right! These are all I'm taking. Just these, and the other ten racks. Travel light, move fast!
LISTER: You can't take all of this. There's no room.
CAT: [Rummaging around in the rack.] OK, then I'll leave ... this! [Pulls
out a small red handkerchief.] I'll just have to do without it.
LISTER: You can take two suits and that's it.
CAT: Two suits? Then I'm staying!
LISTER: You can't stay. By the time I come out, you'll be dead.
CAT: Two suits is dead!
[Lister walks away.]
CAT: [Calling after him.] Hey! If I cut off my leg and leave it behind, can I take three?

Whew!
I took two friends to the Seattle/Minnesota game tonight. I am very much in the proselytizing phase of my fandom, so I wanted to show them how awesome Storm games are.
Unfortunately, the team was a little off its game in the first half, and we were down by 12 at halftime.
Fortunately, they rallied in the second half, and pulled out a very exciting four point win!
Both of my friends said they had a very good time, and both seemed really into the game.
Hopefully I've made some new converts..... MWA-HA-HA!!!!
ETA: Success! One of my friends emailed me to tell me that "you have turned me into a storm fan"!

Shortened Conversation?
My best friend and I talk on the phone once a week. The conversations tend to be 2 - 3.5 hours long.
Since she had her baby on Thursday, I knew our conversation would be shortened this week (and future weeks, as well).
After we hung up, I looked at my phone and was surprised to see that we still managed to talk for 40 minutes!
(p.s. Iris: The baby was 7 lbs. 12 oz., 20".)

You're Not a Worrywart If the Bad Things Really Happen
A friend of mine and I have a standing get-together. Every Saturday night she comes over and we watch that week's Supernatural or Doctor Who, depending on what TV season it is.
Last Saturday, she didn't show up. I called her, but got her voicemail. I emailed her, but didn't get any response. I told myself, "She's probably camping, and forgot to tell me about it." I reassured myself: "She's fine, you just panic too easily."
But guess what? She wasn't fine. She was in the hospital.
She's ok now, but still!

Poor Tofutti Cutie
I keep introducing her to fun TV shows (Red vs. Blue, Waiting for God, Black Adder, Made in Canada, etc.), but there's so many of them that she can't keep up! She doesn't have enough time to watch them and read all the books I keep loaning her. Poor Tofutti Cutie!

With Friends Like These...
me: I very right-handed. I can't do anything with my left hand!
Tofutti Cutie: Have you ever thought about trying to do something about that?
me: I actually know someone who broke her right arm as a kid, so she was forced to learn to use her left hand.
Tofutti Cutie: Would you like me to push you down the stairs?

Personality Profile
Recently I posted the results of an online personality test I took. I was in a rather foul mood when I took the test, and I remember reading the results and thinking what an unpleasant person the results described. I decided it was because I was in such a bad mood, and forgot about it.
What's interesting (to me, anyway) is that both Tofutti Cutie and Zanda told me they found the personality description hilarious!
