Boo, Hiss (continued)
I'm still cranky about Jasmine M. being eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance. This was her dance this week. Why did they cut her?!?!?!

Boo, Hiss
Last night was only the second elimination of the season on So You Think You Can Dance, and the bottom three girls were all dancers I liked and -- even worse -- the one the judges sent home was one of my favorite dancers of the season. I loved her dance from week one (below) and week three, and thought her week two dance was good. How did she end up in the bottom????

SYTYCD Is (Almost) Back!
My favorite, favorite, favorite reality show -- probably the only one I have ever watched without a trace of guilt -- is coming back soon! I think the commercial I saw said May 14th? Yay!!!
Here's one of my all-time favorite routines, from the first season I ever watched (season 4). It's Mark & Courtney in "The Garden":

Three Ballet Dancers
I thought I was done for the night, but then I found this...
The "Meet the Top 20" dance for the three (!) ballet dancers they have this year: Daniel, Eliana, and Chehon:
p.s. If you want to skip straight to the dance, click here.

Heather Morris
Apparently Heather Morris ("Brittany" on Glee) auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance. She didn't make it to the Top 20 that season, but the video is, of course, on YouTube:

So You Think You Can Get Injured
For the second week in a row, they didn't have to choose who went home, because someone was too injured to continue. Eesh!

So You Think You Can Host?
Good idea: An hour-long retrospective of the top 15 dances from all five seasons of So You Think You Can Dance.
Bad idea: Nigel Lythgoe hosting the show instead of Cat Deeley.

Reality Overload
This fall, for the first time ever, my four favorite reality shows are all going to be on air. They are (in order of favoritism): So You Think You Can Dance, Project Runway, The Amazing Race, and Dancing with the Stars.
I may skip this season of DWTS. I'll be getting my dance quota from SYTYCD (which has better dancers and a bigger variety of dances) and there's no one I'm super-interested to see this season.

Reversal of Phoning
Last season on So You Think You Can Dance, I fell in love with Mark and Chelsie early on. I voted for them religiously throughout the competition. They were eliminated in the semi-finals, and I didn't really care about anyone in the finals, so I didn't bother voting after that.
This season, I didn't have any clear favorites, so I didn't bother voting. Tonight was the finale, though, and Jeanine inspired me to pick up my phone and power-vote for two hours.
I'm sure Evan or Brandon will win, though.
Oh well.

So You Think You Can Dance?
It's still a really stupid name for a TV show, but it's still a really great TV show.
Here's an excellent list of some reasons why.
(Can you tell the show aired tonight? No more auditions; we're finally to the good part. Yay!!!)

I Must Have Angered the TV Gods
There are only two shows I want to watch this summer: So You Think You Can Dance and Burn Notice. (Project Runway doesn't start until August.)
SYTYCD airs its performance episode on Wednesday from 8-10. The results show is on Thursdays at 9.
Guess when Burn Notice is? Thursdays at 9.
O! TV Gods! What hast I done to piss thee off?

Move Over, Tom Bergeron
I've got a new favorite reality show host. Mind you, I don't watch much reality TV, so the list of candidates isn't particularly long, but still...
Tom Bergeron is great on Dancing With The Stars, but Cat Deeley is fantastic on So You Think You Can Dance. I'd heard she was way cool, but now I've seen for myself.
I've been impressed with how genuine she seems. She really seems excited for contestants who do well, and sympathetic to those who've had problems. She also asks interesting questions, sometimes even intervening on the dancers' behalf with the judges.
But she proved her total and complete awesomeness last Wednesday. After Chelsie and Mark completed their tango, Chelsie was limping and shaking her left foot as they walked off the stage. When they got near Cat, she realized that there was a problem with Chelsie's left shoe. She immediately dropped to her hands and knees, saw that Chelsie's toe had slipped out of the shoe, unstrapped Chelsie's shoe, took it off, put it back in (with the toe included), and strapped her shoe back up.
So very awesome! See for yourself here. (The shoe thing starts around 1:55, although Chelsie and Mark's tango was very good, and definitely worth a watch.)
