Quote of the Week

From Dilbert by Scott Adams...

telemarketer:
Hello. May I interest you in long-distance phone service?
PHB: How long is it?
telemarketer: Ummm... It's extremely long.
PHB: I need to know exactly how long it is! If it's too short I'll have to shout the last mile. I hate that.
telemarketer: Okay... It's fifty miles long.
PHB: No, thanks. I don't know anyone fifty miles away.

25 September

M. Giant's first recap of The Amazing Race...

"So let's meet the racers, shall we? I'd like to tell you that I've researched them all in advance, or that I deliberately refrained from same as a way to preserve the purity of my viewing experience, but it's a little early to be turning my new digs here into a house of lies. I just never got around to it, is all."

02 October

Daniel's recap of Lost...

"'Why do you want to get down there so bad?' asks Kate, and Locke actually has the nerve to correct her grammar with a 'badly'. You know she's killed people, Locke. I'm just saying."

09 October

From Darby Conley's Get Fuzzy...

Bucky: So by this point, I'm just tryin' to provoke him, so I said, "Well, someone of your ilk would screw that up, wouldn't they?
Satchel: Wait....someone has milk?
Bucky: What? No, ilk. Ilk! Someone of that ilk.
Satchel: Elk? You talked to an elk?
Bucky: No, ilk, man! There is no elk! I gotta stop hanging out with dogs. Ok.... So now anyhow.... Uh... What was I talking about? Elk? No....
Satchel: I have no idea.
Bucky: I.... I was mad, right?
Satchel: Yeah. Yeah, that sounds right.

Lastly, a grammar lesson from the Fug Girls...

"Natalie Bassingthwaighte here is the host of So You Think You Can Dance Australia, which I really wish was punctuated differently. Say, So You Think You Can Dance: Australia, or So You think You can Dance, Australia? This way, it seems like "Australia" IS the kind of dance you apparently think you can do, like the polka or the hokey-pokey.

Quote of the Week

From Dilbert, but Scott Adams:

Catbert [the evil H.R. director]: Wally, our auditors found 40 gigabits of bikini pictures on your PC. That is grounds for dismissal. How do you plead?

Wally: Innocent. Technically, they didn't find any pictures. What they found were zeroes and ones resting harmlessly on magnetic media. It was the auditors themselves who activated those harmless bits to form pictures on the screen. I demand that those godless auditors be fired! And, if it's not too much trouble, I'd like my zeroes and ones back.
