Quote of the Day: Tumblr
Lessons from Twilight:
Edward: I will stalk you, manipulate you, physically abuse you, treat you like an incompetent child, and contemplate killing you regularly.
Bella: That's okay, I will just internalize your abuse as my fault. After all, you're a man so you must be right.
Lessons from Buffy:
Angel: Hey Buff, you need me to bust in and save you at the last minute?
Buffy: No, thanks. Let me just slice this misogynistic bastard in half, starting with his balls first. Then we can snuggle.

Anya: Men are evil. Will you go with me [to prom]?
Xander: One of us is very confused, and I honestly don't know which.

[Spike is moving out of Xander's basement.]
Anya: Wait. [Gets up and unplugs the tall three-head lamp and brings it over to Spike.] I want to give you something for your new place.
Xander: That's my lamp.
Anya: A gift is traditional. I've read about it.
Xander: That's among friends. With bitter enemies we don't give them my lamp.
Spike: It's not gonna have electricity anyway. It's a crypt, remember?
Anya: What about running water? A fridge to keep your blood fresh?
Spike: [pause] No.
Anya: Well, that's gotta suck. You should just get a hotel room or something.

Buffy: How was school today?

Buffy: Just how I remember it.

Quote of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Xander: [re: Riley’s commando hand movements] What's with the hand move? D’you see that? Does that, like, mean something?
Willow: It's code. I think it breaks down to "choo-choo." [mimics pulling a train whistle]
Anya: It probably means to follow him. That, or wait here for him.
Xander: Hey Riley! What's the [mimics gesture] all about?
Riley: It means yell real loud, so the vampires who don't know we're coming will have a sporting chance.

Quote of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
[Anya is working at the magic shop. She has just finished ringing up a customer.]
Anya: [to the customer] Please go.
Xander: Anya, the Shopkeepers Union of America called. They wanted me to tell you that "Please go" just got replaced with "Have a nice day."
Anya: But I have their money. Who cares what kind of day they have?
Xander: No one. It's just a long cultural tradition of raging insincerity. Embrace it.

Quote of the Day: Joss Whedon
And then he got hired to direct The Avengers. And it is a HUGE hit. Right after it came out, and the box office was going through the roof, here's (part of) what he posted on Whedonesque.com -- a fan website that he uses to occasionally post stuff for his fans, since he is (self-admittedly) too lazy to get his own website:
"What doesn't change is anything that matters. What doesn't change is that I've had the smartest, most loyal, most passionate, most articulate group of -- I'm not even gonna say fans. I'm going with 'peeps' -- that any cult oddity such as my bad self could have dreamt of. When almost no one was watching, when people probably should have STOPPED watching, I've had three constants: my family and friends, my collaborators (often the same), and y'all. A lot of stories have come out about my 'dark years', and how I'm 'unrecognized'... I love these stories, because they make me seem super-important, but I have never felt the darkness (and I'm ALL about my darkness) that they described. Because I have so much. I have people, in my life, on this site, in places I've yet to discover, that always made me feel the truth of success: an artist and an audience communicating. Communicating to the point of collaborating. I've thought, 'maybe I'm over; maybe I've said my piece'. But never with fear. Never with rancor. Because of y'all. Because you knew me when. If you think topping a box office record compares with someone telling you your work helped them through a rough time, you're probably new here. (For the record, and despite my inhuman distance from the joy-joy of it: topping a box office record is super-dope. I'm an alien, not a robot.) So this is me, saying thank you. All of you. You've taken as much guff for loving my work as I have for over-writing it, and you deserve, in this our time of streaming into the main, to crow. To glow. To crow and go 'I told you so', to those Joe Blows not in the know. (LAST time I hire Dr. Seuss to punch my posts up. Yeesh!)"

Quote of the Day: Joss Whedon
He also talked about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and how he had to fight to keep the title. (Network executives wanted to change it to something with "broader appeal".):
"This is Buffy. The. Vampire. Slayer. Each of these words is actually very important. One of them is funny, one of them is scary, one of them is action; that's what the show is. The 'the' is not that important, but I'd like to keep it because otherwise it's going to be a weird title."

Quote of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy: [about Kakistos] Now, this guy shows up two days ago, right? Right around the same time my bestest new little sister [Faith] makes her scene.
Giles: You think he and Faith are connected?
Buffy: Giles, there are two things that I don't believe in: coincidence and leprechauns.
Giles: Well, Buffy, it's entirely possible that they both arrived here by chance simultaneously.
Buffy: Okay, but I was right about the leprechauns, right?
Giles: As far as I know, yes.

Quote of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Buffy: Do you remember the demon that almost got out the night I died?
Willow: Every nightmare I have that doesn't revolve around academic failure or public nudity is about that thing. In fact, once I dreamt that it attacked me while I was late for a test and naked.

Quote of the Day: SFX
Some fun pairings resulted! I liked #61: Anya (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Kirk (Star Trek):
Love match? Doomed. Anya had enough problems getting the dependable Xander to settle down, so she’d be on to a loser with serial romancer Kirk. But we’d love to see her vengeance on him after he dumps her. Unless it’s already happened – that could explain his crap death scene in Generations.
[h/t Whedonesque]
ETA: #2 is also awesome: Elena (The Vampire Diaries) and Dean (Supernatural):
Love match? Not a chance. He wouldn’t be able to put up with all that namby pamby college rock she listens to and he’d kill all her friends.

Quote of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Tara: Everyone, before we jump all over [Buffy], people do strange things when someone they love dies. When I lost my mother, I did some pretty dumb stuff like lying to my family and staying out all night.
Anya: Buffy's boinking Spike.
[pause]
Willow: Oh. Tara's right. Grief can be powerful, and we shouldn't judge—
Tara: What are you, kidding? She's nuts!

Quote of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Cordelia: So, are you saying she's invisible because she's so unpopular?
Buffy: That about sums it up.
Cordelia: Bummer for her. It's awful to feel that lonely.
Buffy: Hmm. So you've read something about the feeling?
Cordelia: Hey! You think I'm never lonely because I'm so cute and popular? I can be surrounded by people and be completely alone. It's not like any of them really know me. I don't even know if they like me half the time. People just want to be in a popular zone. Sometimes when I talk, everyone's so busy agreeing with me, they don't hear a word I say.
Buffy: If you feel so alone, then why do you work so hard at being popular?
Cordelia: Well, it beats being alone all by yourself.

Quote of the Day: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
[Buffy had been infected by a demon and has acquired an "aspect" of that demon. Specifically, she has begun to read people's minds.]
Buffy: Is this the thing? The aspect thing? Because I gotta say, if it is, it is way better than a tail. I mean, I have a hard enough time finding jeans that fit right.
Giles: Buffy, slow down. I'm not even convinced that this is genuine mind reading. You're most likely projecting your --

Angelus: Dear Buffy. I'm still trying to decide the best way to send my regards.
Spike: Why don't you rip her lungs out? It might make an impression.
Angelus: Lacks... poetry.
Spike: It doesn't have to. What rhymes with lungs?

Quote of the day(s): Angel & Buffy the Vampire Slayer
From "Lullaby" (3.09):
[Cordy, Wes, Fred, and Gunn all sit in the front of the convertible, leaving a very pregnant Darla alone in the back.]
Darla: Doesn't anyone wanna sit back here with me?
Cordelia: We're good.
Gunn: Yeah, it's comfy.
Darla: I promise I won't throw anyone out of the car. Not while it's moving.
Fred: It's not that we don't trust you. I mean, we don't trust you, but, the fact is, your water broke all over the back seat.
Darla: Oh.
From "All the Way" (6.06):
[It's Halloween...]
Dawn: So what are you supposed to be?
Anya: An angel.
Dawn: Oh. Shouldn't you have wings?
Anya: Um, no, this is a special kind of angel called a Charlie. We don't have wings, we just skate around with perfect hair fighting crime.
