Catching Ducks

Syfy is remaking "Being Human", a very enjoyable BBC show. Initial clips look promising, but I'm not sure what the point is. Can't Americans just watch the original? Is making the characters (a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost) American going to change them in some fundamentally interesting way?

Last Sunday the History Channel premiered their version of "Top Gear". It had some good moments, and the race car driver host (Tanner something-or-other) was cool, but still -- what's the point?

I guess time will tell.
