Psychosomatic Cramps?
I think it was in "To Sail Beyond the Sunset" that Robert Heinlein had his (female) main character talk about how she never got menstrual cramps. I don't remember the exact wording, but the implication was that women got cramps because they subconsciously expected to.
To which I reply: Bollocks!
Last night I was woken from a deep sleep by the pain of cramps. If it's psychosomatic, then why would I get them when I was asleep?
