Oh, Injury

In the fourth quarter of the Seattle @ L.A. game, the Rasputina song "Oh, Injury" started to float through my head.

Ann Wauters was injured two games ago, in New York. She missed the Connecticut game and was out again tonight. Ewelina Kobryn was injured somewhere along the line (Connecticut? practice?) and she was questionable for today. Right before the game started, it was announced that Sue Bird was out with a hip flexor injury. If that wasn't enough, Tina Thompson went down with a knee injury in the fourth quarter. She was helped to the locker room by the trainer and Sue Bird. At that point, the Storm was down to seven players, and bench looked ridiculously empty.

Needless to say, the Storm lost badly. They actually held it together pretty well in the first half -- just down by 8 at the half -- but it all fell apart in the second half.

The only bright spot is that Svetlana Abrosimova got some good playing time. (29 minutes, 9 points, 6 rebounds.) Considering she's only been back with the team for a week, that's a pretty solid appearance. Hopefully this will help her feel more comfortable with the team.
