Quote of the Day: Sue Bird
From an interview after Sunday's game:
interviewer: How would you describe that rebound that Tina [Thompson] got [with one second left]?
Sue Bird: Yeah, that was... I said "thank you" immediately. That was huge. That sealed the game for us, absolutely. When she got that rebound, I definitely exhaled.
interviewer: I mean, you don't miss two free throws in a row, especially at the end of the game...
Sue Bird: [with a touch of sarcasm] Yeah, thanks.
[reporters laugh]
Sue Bird: [normal voice] It happens. And Tina was there to have my back, and have the team's back. I was very happy when she got that rebound.
[Skipping bit about passing and Tanisha Wright having such a great game.]
interviewer: Did you hear the crowd chanting "Tina"?
Sue Bird: Yeah.
interviewer: What did you think about that? That's new.
Sue Bird: Yeah, it was cool! That was a big frickin' rebound. So... chant her name all night!
[p.s. Tina Thompson did not hear her name being chanted -- she was too focused on knocking down her free throws!]
