The Storm Sign Ann Wauters
When the Storm traded away Swin Cash and Le'Coe Willingham, one of the names floating around as a potential pick-up was Ann Wauters.
In his "Grading the Trade" write-up, Richard Cohen wrote: "...Or a somewhat outside the box move like talking Belgian center Ann Wauters into actually showing up and eschewing San Antonio for the Pacific Northwest. Wauters is still a top-quality big, is currently playing with Lauren Jackson in Spain, and Agler’s shown a knack for bringing in talented international players in the past, so you never know."
Apparently she hasn't played in the WNBA since 2009 (not sure what happened in 2010, but in 2011 she had a baby) and she's one of those players I've heard of as a "gosh, wouldn't it be nice if she'd come back to the league" person.
And now she's back! The Storm just signed her for this summer. She's a post player like Lauren Jackson, so she'll help fill the gap when LJ's doing her Olympic duty. She's playing with LJ in Spain right now, so they should be a good tandem when the Olympics are over, too.
This is good news!!
