Boo, Hiss! (with a little bit of "Yay!")
UConn lost.
Like Courtney Vandersloot, Maya Moore tried valiantly to will her team to victory, but didn't get enough help from her teammates. To be fair, they had a slight problem with the height-differential, since UConn's only tall player (Stephanie Dolson), had four fouls and had to sit out large chunks of the game. (And some of those fouls didn't seem very foul-like to me.) But their second-leading scorer (Tiffany Hayes) had a dreadful night. Not only didn't she not make shots, she wasn't even taking them. Blech.
So, Notre Dame moves on to the championship game, where they will play... Texas A&M! In a real nail-biter -- the lead changed twice (three times?) in the last 30 seconds -- A&M took out Stanford. Standford is now the only team in in NCAAW history to go to the Final Four four times in a row without coming home with a championship. Ha! That takes a little of the sting away!
It's been ten years since Notre Dame has won a championship, and this is Texas A&M's first trip to the Final Four.
If I watch the game, I'm definitely rooting for Texas!

For fun, I filled out a bracket for both the men's and women's tournament. In the men's tournament, I could crumple up my bracket after the first weekend. In the women's tournament, I was looking good till last night!
I had Notre Dame to lose in the first round and A&M to lose to Baylor.
... So, how about them UConn men? 9-9 in the Big East regular season, but now they've lasted longer than the women!

I, too, was expecting to see a UConn-Stanford final, but yesterday's games were an excellent illustration of the old Yogi Berra quote: "It ain't over till it's over!"
