Team Owners
Apparently this is the first WNBA finals where both teams are owned independently (i.e. separately from a NBA team). In addition, both teams are owned by women.
The Atlanta Dream actually have a pretty cool story. They were an expansion team in 2008 and only won four games. In 2009 they made it to the playoffs. This year, their third year of existence, they have made it to the finals. That's impressive.
The city of Atlanta is starved for a championship.
I'm still rooting for Seattle, of course, but I think it's neat that the Dream has made such a quick turnaround. And as bad as other sports teams are in Atlanta, I think it's fair to say that Seattle's are worse.
