Catching Ducks

Did I hear correctly that the clip started with a reference to the U.S. being "complicated?"
Was the Doctor shooting a gun that the end of the clip? A gun? The world must be coming to an end! ;)
 

I think he's saying "The universe is vast and complicated..."

And yeah, the gun thing surprised me, too. The 10th doctor held a gun in "The End of Time", but he didn't shoot at anyone.
 

Maybe he is shooting at a machine; a non-lifeform machine, of course.
