Cracked
Back in January, I discovered the website TV Tropes. As I predicted then, it is an excellent time-waster for me.
Apparently I'm not the only one to get sucked in, though. Check out this xkcd comic.
When you hold your cursor over the comic, it mentions another (excellent time-wasting) site: cracked.com.
I'm not sure whether to thank or curse the writer of xkcd!

Cracked.com had an article about ferrofluids. I had a great project about ten years ago which tried to determine if ferrofluids could improve the cooling and thereby extend the life of a large electrical transformer. A couple of bar magnets and a vial of ferrofluid will keep you amused for hours! They ought to sell it at toy stores. For example, the bar magnet will hold it at the top of the vial. If you pull the bar magnet away from the vial, the ferrofluid droops in many tiny spikes, before it collapses to the bottom.
