Stubbornness vs. Persistence

You know that old joke about how long a minute is depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on?

I think stubbornness and persistence are like that. If you're sticking to what is right for you, you're persistent. If someone won't change their mind to agree with you, they're stubborn.

I think it simpler than that: *I* am persistent, *you* are stubborn, every time. :)
 
Not necessarily. People often admire someone else's persistence if it's not in direct competition with them.
